This High Voltage LED Parking Lot Light features field-selectable wattage and CCT for customized lighting. The parking lot light delivers up to 72,500 lumens in a Type III-S light distribution pattern. At 145 lumens per watt efficacy, this area shoebox light fixture reduces energy and maintenance costs over its 1,500W metal halide equivalent. To access the wattage and CCT selection switches, remove the waterproof cap on the face of the light. Its IP65 waterproof housing is constructed of durable die-cast aluminum with a bronze finish. The shatterproof polycarbonate lens is UV-resistant. For automatic operation, select either the 277V or 480V photocell. For manual operation, select the shorting cap. Multiple mounting options are available.

0-10V Dimming: This type of dimming control is the most popular and newest style for compatible dimmable power supplies. It works by varying the voltage from 0 to 10 VDC. A 10-volt signal on the dimming wire will allow maximum current flow to the LEDs for maximum intensity. A 0.6-volt signal on the dimming wires allows 6% of the current to flow from the power supply, dimming the LEDs to approximately 6% of full intensity. 1-10V Dimming: This type of dimming control is an older style that is being replaced with 0-10V dimming control. It works by varying the voltage from 1-10 VDC. A 10-volt signal on the dimming wire will allow maximum current flow to the LEDs for maximum intensity. A 1-volt signal on the dimming wire allows 10% of the current to flow from the power supply, which generates approximately 10% of the maximum intensity for the LEDs. TRIAC Dimming: TRIAC dimmers are typical household dimmers sold in hardware stores by brands like Lutron and Leviton. They rely on a semiconductor device called a TRIAC (Triode for Alternating Current). Adjusting the dimmer switch alters the timing at which the TRIAC conducts electricity in each AC cycle, modulating the energy delivered to the light bulb and resulting in adjustable brightness levels. Pulse-Width Modulation Dimming: This type of dimming control adjusts the output current based on the duty cycle. As the duty cycle increases, the current will increase, and the LEDs will be brighter. Conversely, if the duty cycle decreases, the current will decrease, and the LEDs will be dimmer. Resistive Dimming: Resistive dimming can be fixed or variable. If a fixed dimming level is required, a simple resistor is needed to dim the LEDs to a particular level. A potentiometer can serve this purpose if a varying dimmable level is desired. By changing the resistance value of the potentiometer, the output current of the power supply changes, and the LED intensity changes. Controlling a single power supply will require a 100K ohm potentiometer for 100% intensity (100K ohm) to approximately 10% intensity (10K ohm) based on the wiper position. |

What is a Photocell and How Does It Work?When an LED light is equipped with a photocell, the light will turn on and off automatically based on the available ambient light. Their unique functionality makes them ideal for outdoor area lighting specifically.Photocells are variable resistors that change the resistance in an electrical circuit depending on the amount of light present where they are mounted. Because of this, they must be mounted in exposed areas where they receive adequate light to function. Photocells, or photocontrols, come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be integrated into a luminaire or be an added accessory depending on the light. Can a Photocell Be Bypassed?Some lights allow for a photocell to be bypassed as needed. When the photocell is bypassed, it allows for the luminaire to remain on constantly or be controlled by an existing switch or timer. Depending on the type of photocell and how it is installed in the fixture, it may be bypassable using a shorting cap, a slide or DIP switch, or by unplugging the photocell. Consult the user’s manual of the light to confirm which option(s) may be applicable and how to implement them safely. Always use caution and turn off supply power before working on wiring of any type.Shorting CapPhotocells on many commercial applications like parking lot and area lighting applications are mounted externally with a twist-lock socket or adapter. Swapping this for a shorting cap simply closes the circuit on your LED light fixture, which keeps your light in an always-on state. This allows it to be controlled externally as well if a central photocell or switch system is being utilized.DIP Switch or Slide SwitchWhile DIP switches and standard slide switches function differently in most cases, when integrated into the photocontrol system of a light they perform the same function. Switches like these are common on canopy and dusk-to-dawn barn lights. These types of switches allow you to toggle the photocell sensor on or off to fit your needs without any rewiring or replacing parts.Disconnect the WiringSome photocell designs, such as those commonly found in wall packs, allow the operator to simply unplug the photocell to allow the light to work in an always-on state or be controlled by an external switch. |
